7 ICONIC FILMS WITH ROBERT PATTINSON

On the 34th birthday of Robert Pattinson, the English actor, we remember his iconic parts

"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", 2005

Despite the fact that Pattinson played his first film role in 2004 in the "Ring of the Nibelungs", the actor's debut is still considered to be "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". Robert's character - the blond Cedric Diggory competed with Harry for the girl's heart and the Cup of the magic tournament.

"Twilight", 2008-2012

The role of the vampire Edward brought Pattinson worldwide fame. Books and films describing the love relationship of an immortal young man and an ordinary girl Bella became a kind of symbol of the generation and ignited several stars at once – Pattinson very successfully continued his acting career, and Kristen Stewart became the Chanel face.

"Water for elephants!", 2011

The touching love story of circus actors, based on the novel by Sarah Gruen, revealed Pattinson as a serious dramatic actor. Robert's partners were Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. The plot of the film is set during the great depression: veterinarian Jacob Jenkowski goes on a trip with a traveling circus and, as usual, falls in love with the Director's wife.

"Bel Ami", 2012

The role of Georges Duroy is one of Pattinson's best roles. The film adaptation of the novel by the French classic Guy de Maupassant has gathered a brilliant cast: Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas.

The plot of the film tells about the life and career of Georges Duroy who comes to Paris to try his luck. Serving as a clerk at a railway station, Duroy can not find prospects for career growth and ekes out a miserable existence in a cheap apartment. But life changes completely when he meets his old army friend Forestier, who offers him a job at the newspaper where he works. The main trump card of Duroy is an incredible ability to fall in love with any woman (which he successfully uses). The film is not only a vivid description of Duroy love adventures, but also depicts in detail the life and customs of French society of the XIX century.

Cosmopolis, 2012

Sexy, successful, depressing. In this role, Robert Pattinson combined the main qualities of all his previous characters.

The film tells the story of a day in the life of stock speculator Eric Packer. He is 28 years old, good-looking and fabulously rich. Early in the morning, he decides to drive his luxury car across Manhattan, engulfed by protests, to get a haircut at the barbershop where his father took him years ago. This Packer's journey through the city reveals his fatal emptiness, lack of purpose in life and an unconscious craving for death. At the end of the film, he is overtaken by an equally self-destructive former subordinate. Like many others, he sees Packer as the epitome of modern capitalism and blames him for his own failures...

"Map to the stars", 2014

The film centers on the Weiss family, led by Dr. Stafford Weiss (John Cusack), a psychotherapist, television host, and best-selling self-improvement author. One of his clients is Havana (Julianne Moore), an actress who dreams of starring in a remake of the movie that made her mother Clarice (Sarah Gadon) a movie star in the 1960s. She is haunted by the Ghost of her mother, with whom she had a difficult relationship, and the desire to play Clarice seems to be an attempt to resolve her own complexes taken from childhood.

At the same time, Stafford and Kristina's daughter Agatha (Mia Wasikowska) is released from the psychiatric hospital where she was under forced treatment after setting fire to Stafford and Kristina's old house a few years ago, which left Agatha with scars. The girl arrives to the city where the Weiss family lives. She gets a job as Havana Segrand's assistant , makes friends with a guy named Jerome Fontana (Robert Pattinson), who dreams of becoming a Hollywood actor, writes his own script and, to make ends meet, works as a limousine driver in Hollywood.

The film was recognized as one of the 10 best films of 2014 by the French film magazine Cahiers du Cinema.

"Good time", 2017

One of Pattinson's best acting roles as for today. The crime drama "Good time", directed by Josh and Benny Safdie tells the story of a young guy named Connie (Robert Pattinson) who decides to rob a bank and takes his mentally retarded brother Nicky as an accomplice. Soon after the crime, the police track down Nicky and put him in jail. Connie manages to escape, but the fate of his younger brother does not give him peace. As a result, Connie decides to get him out of prison and is ready to do it by any means. The film participated in the main competition program of the 70th Cannes film festival, was nominated for the "Golden Date" award at 70th Cannes Festival and the Sputnik award for best actor.
