How to Cure Chapped Lips
With the help of scrubs, balms, and home-made remedies
It’s a well-known fact that unlike body skin, the delicate skin of your lips (except the mouth corners) doesn’t have sebaceous glands and melanin. That’s why it lacks natural protection and hydration. Hence, lips are more exposed to aggressive environment and UV rays.
If you often suffer from dry and peeling lips with painful cracks, you should stop using balms and lipsticks that contain paraffin, petrolatum, mineral oils, silicones, menthol, phenol, or camphor extract. All these ingredients can make your lips even drier. As a result, you’ll have to use lip balms more and more often. The list below includes some effective lip products that contain only healthy components.
1. Le rouge Perfecto, Givenchy, 2. Balm for Lips to Kiss, Kenzoki, 3. Lip Glow color Reviver Balm, Dior, 4. Lip Balm Key Lime Pie, Lush, 5. Cicaplast Baume B5, La Roche-Posay, 5. Lip Balm with shea butter "White tea and citrus", Mary Kay.
In addition to lip balms, I recommend you to use lip scrubs once a week or ten days. They will gently exfoliate toughened skin and smooth it. Don’t forget to check the ingredients before use and avoid the ones mentioned above.
1. Self-Vanishing Sweet Exfoliating Lip Balm, Dior, 2. Lip Scrub Bubblegum, Lush, 3. Sugar lip scrub with shea butter "White tea and citrus", Mary Kay.
If you have no allergies, you can replace scrub with honey or sugar mixed with olive oil.
If the skin of your lips is severely damaged, has hard-to-heal cracks, peeling is not getting any better and it hurts to smile, you should urgently use more powerful beauty products. One of them is the lip balm from the legendary New York brand Kiehl's. It contains cotton and wheat germ oil, vitamin E, allantoin and the brand's key ingredient-squalane which significantly moisturizes and softens dry and flaky skin, restores chapped lips, protects them from wind and cold.
