Learn how to get rid of unwanted hair in no time.
Nowadays, there are lots of different ways to remove unwanted hair – laser hair removal, waxing, using epilation machines, and sugaring. And many people prefer the latter method of hair removal. Sugaring is an epilation technique that uses a caramel paste to pull off body hair. You can easily make this paste at home as its main component is sugar.
The advantages of sugaring
There is a minimal risk of infection.
It’s a very simple and the least painful procedure of the existing hair removal techniques.
It does not burn the skin (unlike hot wax).
You can easily do this procedure at home.
The procedure helps exfoliate keratinized skin cells.
Sugaring paste recipe
10 tablespoons of sugar
4 tablespoons of water
Juice of half a lemon or half a teaspoon of citric acid
Mix all the ingredients in a heavy-bottomed pot and place it on low heat. Don’t forget to stir the mixture from time to time to avoid burning the sugar. At first, the mixture will become transparent. And when it boils, you need to wait until it acquires a caramel hue. This will take about 5-7 minutes. It is very important not to overcook the paste!
Then remove the pot from the heat and cool the mixture to room temperature. The paste should be pliable and it shouldn’t be sticky to the touch. Otherwise, you need to cook it a little longer.
How to remove hair
First, you need to prepare your skin. It should be clean and dry. The hairs must be at least 3-5 mm long.
Pinch off a piece of paste and roll it into a ball about the size of a walnut. Knead it with your hands until it becomes lighter.
Apply the paste against the hair growth as if smearing it on your skin. Pull it off in the direction of hair growth. This helps prevent ingrown hairs.
After the procedure, wash off the remaining paste and apply a soothing body lotion.
